Description

This lovely ring with a traditional cable pattern in a rich yellow gold color is of sold construction, and simple yet elegant in design. Well preserved are the English hallmarks, revealing the 18 ct gold assay, the hallmark of the examination office, the Chester city hallmark with its three mushrooms and the date letter for 1914. London goldsmith John Gammage additionally marked the ring with his initials JG.

The cable pattern motif was especially popular in Victorian and Edwardian English jewelry symbolizing the unbreakable bond of everlasting love. Therefore, pieces like the one offered here were often given as love tokens. Made to last and crafted with care, this antique gold ring is not only practical and timelessly elegant, but also a great testimony of English sentimental jewelry at the turn of the century.
