Description
This elegant bracelet features a dense, firm delicate Milanese meshwork and sits beautifully and flat on the wrist like a cuff. The warm and rich golden color is exquisite and appears equally exclusive, elegant, and noble without being obtrusive.
As the name indicates, bracelets like the one offered here were firstly crafted by clock smiths in northern Italy who produced finely braided fob chains or “chatelaines” of high quality from the mid 19th century onwards. Their production required not only a wide set of artisanal skills but they were also entirely crafted by hand in many manual work steps.
Only a century later, after WWII, precision machines were developed in the Italian centers of jewelry production which even surpassed the craftsmanship in regard to density, uniformity and linkage. It is these quality features of technical progress that the offered bracelet exquisitely exemplifies! Its smooth and even mesh ensures a high wearing comfort.
This bracelet was manufactured in 18 ct. yellow gold in the 1960s in the Italian province of Arezzo. The maker’s mark on the clasp in the form of a clinched rhomb surrounding the “1AR” accounts for the Arezzo region and the renowned goldsmiths Leopoldo Gori and Carlo Zucchi. Already in 1934, the duo was assigned the # 1 when goldsmith marks were newly alloted in Italy. Henceforth, Gori & Zucchi chose the 1 and the letters AR as their trade name “UnoAErre”.
