Description

An authentic goldsmith’s work with a very fine and intensive green peridot in best color – a satiny green gold which shines like fresh moss in the autumn sun.

Not without reason peridot was thought to be a variety of emerald up until the 18th century. A synonym for the mineral rarely in use today is chrysolite, which pretty much translates to ‘golden stone’ – a truly superb name for peridot. Yet another name for it is olivine. However, olivine is the hypernym for a group of minerals with similar composition in which peridot is only one example.

In contrast to many other minerals used in jewelry which often times are enhanced or changed in color by burning or irradiation, the color of peridot is fully natural and not enhanced by such treatments. In the sizes and quality offered here, the mineral is quite rare, only to be found in Pakistan. At the beginning of the 1990s, peridot deposits were discovered in the most western part of the Himalaya, southwest of Mount Nanga Parbat in the Kashmir area. Characteristically, Pakistani peridots feature acicular inclusions. A few of such can also be found in the peridot offered here but do not impair its translucence or color. The stone, its surfaces and facets are in perfect condition.

This peridot in an oval cut lies in a curved frame and a prong setting with a doubled band crafted in 18 ct. yellow gold. It is flanked by a brilliant on each side.

The ring can perfectly be worn with the matching pendant. Check the product page for more information.
