Material: 925 silver, handle and knob of ebony, sugar bowl and milk jug inside covered with a thin layer of gold.
Measurements: height: tea pot 5,7 inch (14,5 cm), sugar bowl 2,4 or 2,7 inch up to the handle (6 cm/7 cm), milk jug 2,7 inch (7 cm).
Total Weight: 31,649 ounce (984,40 Gramm).

All pieces are marked with the maker’s mark: AL Davenport, with the city mark anchor for Birmingham, with the silver standard mark “striding lion” for Sterlingsilver 925 and with the date letter “H” for 1932.

Description

All pieces are hallmarked with the company’s brand ‘ALD ‘, an anchor, a striding lion and the date letter ‘H’. The tea service is in a very good condition with slightly visible, superficial tracks of use.

The here offered English silver core consists of three parts belonging together – a supplement for each porcelain service: a tea pot, sugar bowl and milk jug. Their classical forms were transferred from the „Adam Style“ and taken into the modern time of the 20th and 30th of the twentieth century. They convince particularly by their clean lines and polished, geometrical forms. All corpora are octagonal and their decoration is characterized by an elegantly drawn shoulder, upright, J-shaped handles, a rectangular knop and four tender, narrow feet. The sugar bowl and the milk jug were additionally inside gilded for hygienic reasons.

This tea set of sterling silver reflects the high technical and creative standards of British silver factories at the beginning of the 20th century.
