Description

A handcrafted diamond ring with a fresh, natural, untreated ruby set luminously in between two brilliant-cut diamonds. Its design dates the ring to the 1930s: a white gold band with tongued shoulders and its head fully set with diamonds in transitional and old European cuts–a sparkling eye-catcher, with the seductive ruby a real sight for sore eyes!

Traditionally, the combination of rubies flanked by two diamonds was considered a token of love, which was oftentimes presented as an alliance ring at weddings. European nobility adopted this tradition from South India at the turn from the 18th to the 19th century. As an engagement ring the bride at this time received the blue sapphire, for the wedding the red ruby and with her first son an emerald ring.
