Mario Bellini
Mario Bellini born in Milan in 1935 is an architect, critic and designer. From 1959 to 1962 he collaborated as an architect with the group “La Rinascente”. Also in this period he taught at the Istituto Superiore di design in Venice. In 1963 he was team leader with Olivetti, for typewriters and computers and during this time won various awards.
Mario Bellini cooperated with various significant industrial companies such as B&B, Cassina, Brionvega, Yamaha, Artemide, Flos, Vitra and was active in the automotive field with Fiat, Lancia and Renault. President of ADI (Associazione Design Industriale) from 1969 to 1971, director of Domus magazine (design and architectural monthly) from 1986 to 1991 and received various Compasso d”Oro awards in years 1964, 1970, 1979, and 1984. The MOMA in New York holds 25 of Mario Bellini’s projects and in 1987 dedicated a monographic exhibition to him. As an architect he created important projects in Tokio and Milan (the new Fiera area).
